Permanent jewelry is a trend of soldering chains onto the body, not to be removed. I’m sure there’s a symbolic appeal for permanency for the sentiment. People get tattoos for similar reasons.
Logically, it makes no sense to me. Chains still snag or break; wear down or dull over time. Why not just get a bracelet with a clasp and keep it on always? This way, you can remove it to have it cleaned or polished—or, if your piece does break, you can have it fixed by unfastening it, then reapplying it once repaired.
Still, it’s a novelty idea. You may notice a mall kiosk offering this service. I suspect this will be a shorter lived fad. Those who do have finer bracelets or necklaces may later opt to have them cut off and clasps attached—costing them more money down the line.
Just worth thinking about before spending money on “permanent” jewelry.
